Located near Leshan in Sichuan Province, Mount Emei reaches a height of 10,167 feet. It is the site of the first Buddhist temple built in China (during the first century CE) and boasts a large number of temples and monasteries. The mountain is also famous for its “sea of clouds” scenery and its Golden Summit, featuring the enormous Puxian Bodhisattva statue.

Province: Sichuan
Weather: cold winters and cool summers at the summit with long, hot, humid summers in the surrounding area; heavy precipitation from May through September
