Ningbo is one of the busiest ports in the world. One of China’s oldest cities with a long history as a commercial center, it was a trade city on the Silk Road 2,000 years ago and has been a major port since the Tang Dynasty. In recent times it has gained attention from the nearby Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the world’s longest trans-oceanic bridge, which was completed in 2007.
