Located north of the Liaodong Peninsula in Northeast China, Shenyang (also known as Mukden) is the capital and largest city of Liaoning Province. It is primarily an industrial center but also has a long history, having been under the control of the Chinese, the Manchus, the Russians, and the Japanese at various times.
