In some places, sheer cliffs rise hundreds of feet above river level.

Chinese Name: 长江三峡 (traditional characters: 長江三峽; pinyin: Cháng Jiāng Sān Xiá)
Length: 120 miles
Location: along the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) in Hubei Province and Chongqing Municipality (Sichuan Province)
Weather: long, very hot and humid summers; short, mild, and damp winters
