The Yangtze River’s Three Gorges feature world-famous scenery that remains spectacular even after the completion of the world’s largest dam near Yichang, just downstream from the gorges. In some places, sheer cliffs rise hundreds of feet above river level.

Chinese Name: 长江三峡 (traditional characters: 長江三峽; pinyin: Cháng Jiāng Sān Xiá)
Length: 120 miles
Location: along the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) in Hubei Province and Chongqing Municipality (Sichuan Province)
Weather: long, very hot and humid summers; short, mild, and damp winters
