Zhangjiajie is the name commonly used for what is more properly referred to as the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is world-famous for its otherworldly scenery, which served as a primary inspiration in creating the alien Pandoran landscape for the blockbuster science fiction film Avatar.
